“TG UPCYCLING DESIGN CAMP 2025”
Thai Airways International held the final round of the “TG UPCYCLING DESIGN CAMP 2025: From Cart to Creation” event to promote the concept of a circular economy and sustainable design.
Mr. Thawirot Songkampol, Chief Corporate Strategy Officer, revealed the project's objectives, saying, “This project also reflects Thai Airways' commitment to environmental and social sustainability (ESG). We not only support the environment, but also society and manage our organization sustainably. Every time we recycle waste materials, we demonstrate that every action can create value, inspire, and produce tangible results.”
In 2025, 10 teams were selected as finalists, showcasing their outstanding work in terms of design, creativity, and practicality. The judging panel, comprised of distinguished judges from Thai Airways, included Ms. Chananan Jongjitnan, Representative of Human Resources, and Mr. Chukiat Pruitthamkul, Head of General Administration. In addition, design experts from various organizations, including:
Nuwee Lertbanpong, Design & Architect Styling / Market Trend Expert
• Mr. Silawat Weerakul, President of the Industrial Designers Society of Thailand (IDS)
• Chiwin Sirisak, CEO of ERECTRUS, a designer and innovative entrepreneur with hands-on experience in developing products from concept to market.
This year's awards were: First Place: Silpakorn University, TG.01/02 and TG.00, whose distinctive design redesigned decommissioned cart components into beautiful and functional multi-purpose shelves, floor lamps, and light signs
First Runner-Up: King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, for TG Photo Booth Memory, featuring the concept of "recording memories." Designed to be installed in the lounge, Thai Airways passengers can capture memorable moments before their flight.
Second Runner-Up: Chulalongkorn University The Cheeva Exclusive Home-Based Exercise Set, designed to fit the lifestyles of modern customers, focuses on convenience and efficient home use.
This event reflects Thai Airways' commitment to promoting the Circular Economy concept and encouraging Thai youth to use their creativity to revitalize end-of-life materials into valuable artwork and furniture, simultaneously reflecting the brand's identity and corporate sustainability.
